In Franeker (a nearby town) hangs a cutout by Anna Maria van Schurman (1607 - 1678). She was very learned, very famous in her time, and could also cut beautifully. I have brought together the flowers that she often cut out in what I have called 'the little garden of Anna Maria van Schurman’.
