In San Diego, I went to a Degas exhibition. Visiting an American museum is often very surprising because you regularly see art that you never see in Europe. I knew some of Degas’ sculptures but wasn’t aware that he had made so many. Against the light, this bronze sculpture is like a silhouette. I enlarged it quite a bit to allow the poignantly beautiful form to really stand out.
